Aging and Grief
How we age and who we become as we age has a lot to do with how we handle the events of our lives; both the good and the bad. There is one universal life situation that if we live long- enough we will all experience in some form…and that is grief.
Get Out of Your Own Way
We are often our own worst enemy sometimes we hold our selves back from dreams and accomplishments by our own thoughts and self-doubt. Fear of failure, perfectionism, or a critical inner voice can all prevent us from taking action. Even if you are taking action fear and anxiety can keep you from being and doing your best. You may have coping mechanisms that hinder your progress. Fear of changing can make you hesitant to pursue new options and opportunities.
Inside and Out
Let’s face it there are a million things we are told to do to stay healthy and age well. It is almost a full-time job that can be exhausting. Eat this, don’t eat that, exercise, meditate to calm your brain, do puzzles to stimulate your brain. We all want to do the right things but when those things keep changing, according to the latest study, it can feel like just too much.
Aging and Loss
I think that one of the reasons Aging has such a negative connotation in our society is that, although we think about the negatives, we don’t talk about them. No matter how positive our attitudes, we all still have thoughts about aging that are not always positive; instead, they are often scary and sad. If I had to guess what bothers us the most about aging, I would have to say it’s probably loss.
Acceptance and Aging
All over Social Media Influencers and other authors are offering us a million easy ways to be our happiest and healthiest and most beautiful selves as we age. But pretending that aging does not take some mental adjusting and some work on our part would be very unrealistic. Throughout our lives we have learned that in general you get out of something what you put into it. This is also true of aging.
Life is What You Make It
As we age, I believe there is a tendency to step back from and ignore the aspects of the current world because it feels so different than the world we were raised in and became the people we are today. We see and hear things we don’t understand and maybe don’t agree with.
