When we feel in control, we feel safer and more satisfied with any situation. Our brains send signals to our nervous systems when things seem unpredictable. When you feel in control your brain relaxes. There is something very powerful about influencing an outcome.
When you choose, act, decide and adjust you feel powerful, in the healthiest sense of the word. Choose, Act, Decide and Adjust are exactly the things you need to do in order to have control over your own aging process.
So many people fear aging because they feel that aging is something that happens TO them and is completely out of their control. Nothing could be further from the truth. You actually have an amazing amount of control over how you age.
Choose the person you want to become over the next decade by taking actions now, you can choose a path that will lead you to who you want to be in your future years.
Act on the choices. They do not happen on their own. You must make changes in you physical, emotional and spiritual health to get there.
Decide what is important to you and make the difficult decisions that will help you maintain what is important to you.

Taking a huge step – separating from a 36 year marriage. Choosing me…

You inspire. Finally taking care of my hair. Sounds funny, but I been in a rut and decided to get into a groove. Seeing a stylist, and learning how to care AND style my hair. Is my hair worth the time, money and attention? Yes., I think so.

Absolutely! If we don’t choose us now, when? 😊

This is some good advice. If we don’t take control of changes, the changes will happen and we have deal with the changes good or bad. So I need to take control of my health. It’s hard I’ve been very complacent and just let my health go down. I guess I just gave up. So now I feel I need to take control and it will be hard because now I have a long way to go.
But Candace your posts are very helpful. -
Excellent because it is empowering!

So powerful to hear this mind set! To realize I do have control over much of how I will age over the next 10 years changes everything in how I feel about it. Time to set some goals on paper. Thank you!

Great advice for an 88 year old lady trying to take care of her self while recovering from a fractured elbow. Not to easy 🤞😅

Best of luck, you can do it if you’ve made it this far!!

Sometimes choosing me, is choosing to serve my kids and grandkids. Sometimes it’s just adjusting what time I finally do get to the gym. I’m still choosing me. Adjusting the timing of my trips to the gym in order to serve my family IS choosing my heart’s desire to serve my family and serve my physical strength needs. I’m realizing the strict regimen on schedule leaves sadness and less opportunity to be helpful. So choosing flexibility is a great choice!

I have the good fortunate of being in a good place with my physical and spiritual health. It’s the emotional that’s been the most challenging as I am 5 years into widowhood and I still get that lump in my throat when life gets in the way. I’m working on it. Listening to you and your positive outlook has been a tremendous help to me. Thank you!!

wonderful thoughts on control which most of us deal with in some fashion. I have had to let some things go (in taking care of my elderly parents and their health) and let life be and continue to make choices for myself instead of trying to fix everything for them. Some things just cannot be fixed and I have to let that go for the balance in my mind emotionally. Your words are encouraging to ponder and then act on!! thank you!
