What’s happening with 2022 Fall Fashion?
There is an excitement in the air and a lot of it has to do with clothes! When I was a kid back to school shopping was so much fun. I got excited about everything, whether it was my new shoes or my new backpack. I even got a good feeling from those perfectly blank pages in my shiny new notebook. But fast forward six decades and now I still give myself some new items in the Fall because to me it still feels like a new beginning.
In the fashion world next week September 9 -14 is NYFW (New York Fashion Week) where 110 designers will be showing their new collections. The big four fashion weeks are New York, London, Milan and Paris. Should this be of great interest to you? Probably not unless you are really involved in the fashion world. But it is interesting to know that what you eventually see in your local stores or online are created from elements of what the designers have in their new collections at these shows. All of the new trends are exaggerated at these shows and just like what you see on some of the pages of Vogue, you wonder who would wear this stuff? But the truth is everyone does eventually in some shape or form as it is slowly absorbed into mainstream clothing. So, what is happening this Fall may be what was first shown a year ago in the 2021 Collections.
Here is a rundown on what is trending this Fall:
Faux Leather is very popular and I will definitely be wearing it on my social media sites. You can find it at Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Chico’s and White House Black Market.
Ballet Flats are going to be big and I have already started adding them to my Amazon Store. See one I love by Sam Edelman. They can be so stylish and practical for the older women who no longer wears heels. Think Audrey Hepburn, Mary Tyler Moore and Katherine Hepburn for inspiration.
Chanel started a trend with Confetti Tweed and I love it. See it at Ann Taylor in dresses, Jackets and Skirts. Tweed is so classic and elegant you can never go wrong wearing it. Pair with Jean or over a dress for evening and it is perfect either way.
High Waisted Jeans continue their popular appeal such as these at Talbots. Both high and mid-rise will be available pretty much everywhere this Fall. I am a fan of Talbots Jeans and the high waisted straight jean and boot cut are my two favorites.
Something new to the party is the Barrel Jean. It features a high waist and a loose-fitting leg tapered around the ankle. Barrel leg jeans offer a dressier but equally comfortable alternative to slouchy jeans. Love this one on sale at Banana Republic
Chunky Loafer are another practical choice that is a huge trend this Fall. Finally, you can combine practicality and style. This one in my Amazon Store comes in Black, Navy and Wine.
These are just a few on the new trends you will see in stores near you now. You may not be going back to school but a little something new in your closet can be a mood lifter and you might want to try something a bit out of your comfort zone and see where it leads you.
